New to Old

I took the first six images today, but re-edited all images at the end. I’ve been waiting for the building on the first image to be less busy. The building was always surrounded by cars and signs. It used to be a used cars dealership/car shop, but it closed down so it worked to my advantage. Also, I love the lines and the odd door.

The second image, the basket by the garage door. It was cloudy outside, gloomy, lonely, kinda like when the kids are away in school and this court has no one to play on it. The garage door was crooked and there was overgrown grass on the crack. I like to find interest in the boring. It was a good day. =)

What have I been up to?

It’s been a while since I last blogged! What have I been up to? Let’s see, I went to Las Vegas for a little vacation to spend some time with family, took a self portrait, wander around the streets of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area for some street photos, redid Tux (my dog) portrait and re-edited some old pin up photos I took in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. I am extremely excited about one of the photos I took out of all of them. Well, more like two.

First, the laundromat photograph. I love lines and chrome. There’s just something so interesting about it. I am really attracted to a cinema look of street photography. I have been itching to take a photo of a laundromat. It was hard to find one empty, but I was enough to find one when I was driving around with Tux. Lucky I had my camera. I thought about shooting it at night, but it will give it such a completely different feel. I wanted the chrome to be the star of the show. The owners must have watched their security cameras thinking,”is he taking pictures of ghosts?” lol.

Second, my self portrait. Oh the many mistakes I made before. I have tried it before, but I took it in manual focus and only got one that I kind of liked. This time I was ready. In my eyes, to me this is the perfect look to a men’s portrait. I have always wanted to take pictures of someone with a suit on. Why not be my own model? Right?! I am looking forward to doing more projects and sharing!
